How It Happened
The Franciscan Women's Lacrosse hosted Mount Aloysius on Saturday for their 2025 home opener on a cold but clear day in Steubenville. Neither team scored for the first five minutes, as the Mounties were knocking some rust off in their first game of the season. Then, the Barons scored three goals in a row, two from Theresa Lyle to take a lead that they did not relinquish. Nadia Pinsonault also scored a pair in the opening quarter, and Kiera Wilson netted her first. The Barons led 6-3 after 15 minutes of play.
The Franciscan defense stepped up in the second quarter, as they kept the Mounties from scoring and caused 10 turnovers. Annie Lewis scored a goal, and Cooke added a pair, as the Barons extended their lead up to six at the half.
Mount Aloysius snapped their drought with an early goal in the third quarter, but then the Barons scored 11 unanswered goals to close out this game. Sarah Keys scored a pair of goals down the stretch, as the Barons out-shot the Mounties 37-16 on the day en route to a massive win.
