How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Lacrosse hosted Marietta in their 2025 home opener on a cold and windy Saturday in Steubenville. The home team looked to be in total control in the opening quarter. Nathaniel Carter, Dominic Scordino, Joseph James, and Eli Everts scored in that quarter to give the Barons a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes of play at Trinity Health System Field. The Pioneers answered with back-to-back man-up goals en route to six-straight goals to take their first lead of the day in the second quarter. Scordino snapped their run, but the Pioneers did damage to take a 10-5 lead at the half.
Everts and Scordino tacked on goals in the third, but the Barons were not able to slow down the Pioneers' attack. They won the third quarter to take a seven-goal lead into the final quarter. The Barons scored the final three goals of the game, as James scored a pair, and Alex Ahmann netted his lone goal of the day. The Barons were not able to overcome the deficit, as they fell 18-10.
