How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Lacrosse returned from their spring break trip to take on Muskingum on Saturday on the road. The Barons took the early lead with a goal from Joseph James and Nathaniel Carter in the opening five minutes. The Fighting Muskies answered with three goals in a row, but then Dominic Scoredino tied it up at 3-3. Muskingum picked up one more this quarter to take a one-goal lead into the second quarter. Defense was the story of the second quarter, as Joseph James scored the lone goal to take a 4-4 score into halftime.
James continued to lead the way offensively with three goals in the third quarter in this back-and-forth thriller. The Muskies continued to answer each goal from the Barons, as they took an 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Scordino took advantage of a man-up opportunity and scored an equalizer. That set the score at 8-8 with a little under 14 minutes to go. Muskingum then scored four goals in a row with two being man-down goals. Alex Ahmann scored his first goal of the day with seven minutes left to pull within three goals, but that was as close as Franciscan got to the lead for the rest of the day. Muskingum won 13-9.
