How It Happened
The Barons went to Grove City in search of their first conference win over the Wolverines, and they held a late lead in game one but did not hold on to win.

It appeared this was going to be Grove City's game to win after they took a 4-0 lead in the first, but the Barons battled back and chipped away at the deficit. Peffer knocked in Falconite in the second to get the Barons on the board. Bodie's hot day at the dish started in the fifth with an RBI double, and then he later scored on a wild pitch to set the score at 3-4.

The Wolverines added some insurance runs to hold a 7-3 lead, as we entered the seventh inning. In that inning, Franzonello scored on a wild pitch, and Bodie hit a two-run home run to pull within one run.

Franciscan's offense was not done. In the eighth, Armstrong's RBI single tied it up at 7-7. Bodie then ripped a single through the left side to plate a pair and give the Barons their first lead of the day. Stoehr then knocked in another run to give the Barons a 10-7 lead, as we headed into the home half of the eighth inning.

Coach Rick Carver went to their closer, Wade Stoehr in the eighth for a six-out save. The first two batters went down via a flyout and strikeout, but then the Wolverines woke up. Seven consecutive hits resulted in six runs all with two outs for the Wolverines to take a three-run lead.

The Barons threatened in the ninth with two outs as well. Armstrong drove in one run, but then the Barons were retired to end the ballgame.
