Barons and Bison Split PAC Doubleheader on Senior Day

Franciscan 3, Bethany 4 - 9 Innings

Franciscan Lineup
Anthony Franzonello DH, Holden Armstrong 2B, Josiah Bodie CF,  Wade Stoehr 3B, John Fusco RF, Colin Killian 1B, Andrew Hunton LF, David Ferroni C, Nicholas Peffer SS, & Pitching - Jeremy Sagun

How It Happened
It was Senior Day in Steubenville, as seven players who will be graduating in 2025 were honored before the game. The Bison quickly shifted the momentum their way and attempted to spoil the day, as they took a 4-0 lead after the top of the fifth. In the home half of the inning, Wade Stoehr singled in Holden Armstrong to get the Barons on the board. Another senior, Anthony Franzonello had the big swing in the sixth, as he drove in a pair to pull within one run. The Barons had opportunities to tie it up in the final three innings, but they could not get the timely knock to bring that runner home.

The Bison took game one with their starter throwing a complete game.

At the Plate
- Armstrong and Hunton each had three hits.
- All 12 of Franciscan's hits were singles.
- Armstrong also had a sac bunt.
- Bodie picked up his 50th hit of the season.

On the Mound
- Sagun took the tough-luck loss after going six innings.
- The bullpen pitched three hit-less innings, as Dax Clifton and Anthony Franzonello were nearly perfect
Franciscan 8, Bethany 3 - 9 Innings

Franciscan Lineup
Anthony Franzonello DH, Holden Armstrong 2B, Josiah Bodie CF,  Wade Stoehr 3B, John Fusco RF, Andrew Hunton LF, John Hall 1B, David Ferroni C, Nicholas Peffer SS, & Pitching - Jonathan Perez

How It Happened
Bethany plated the first run of this one, but Franciscan answered with offensive production in each of the first three innings. Bodie singled in Franzonello to tie it up at 1-1 in the first inning. Armstrong gave the Barons the lead on a two-RBI single in the second inning. Stoehr added some insurance in the second on a sac fly, and Peffer drove in Fusco in the third to set the score at 5-1.

Another senior, John Hall left his mark on this victory with an RBI single in the fifth. Stoehr and Hutton drove in one apiece in the eight for good measure, as the bullpen came in to close this victory out by a score of 8-3 in front of a large crowd of family and friends.

At the Plate
- Stoehr had three hits, all of which were doubles.
- Bodie and Peffer each had two hits.
- Armstrong and Stoehr each had two of Franciscan's eight RBIs.

On the Mound
- Jonathan Perez pitched into the eighth for the first time this season. He struck out five and walked just two.
- Franzonello finally allowed a hit, but no runs, as he pitched the final inning and a third to secure the win.

Up Next
The Barons will host La Roche on Monday for their home finale. The non-conference doubleheader will begin at 4:00 p.m. The Barons are 1-8 all-time against the Redhawks, as they split a series against them last season. Andrew Heidemann threw a complete game shutout to beat them 8-0 in Pittsburgh in that win.
