How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan traveled to Bethany, W.V. to face the Bethany College Bison. The Bison took an early first quarter lead, but from the second quarter on the Barons completely dominated the field of play. The Baron offense is one of the better in the league. Any time the Barons have consistent offensive possessions from causing turnovers or winning draw controls, they have a chance to score on anyone. Today, they caused 8 turnovers and won 22 draw controls. Denying so many offensive possessions from the other team was the difference in the game.Â
The women were led by senior Theresa Lyle. Her impact was felt all over the field scoring 5 goals off 7 shots on goal, adding an assist for 6 total points, grabbing 6 ground balls, causing 3 turnovers, and winning 6 draw controls. Lyle's 5 goals puts her over the milestone of 100 career goals. She now sits sixth all-time in goals scored behind former teammate Joanna Hilkert. With a handful of games left, she has a very real chance to climb into the top 3 all-time goal scoring.
Not to be overshadowed from the momentous day Theresa had. Gianna Dinoto set her own record. Her eight assists is now the program record for assists in a game.Â
