Today's senior spotlight is
Kina Ehlers, a four-year member of the Franciscan tennis team from Westeville, Ohio. She is coming off of an outstanding junior season, as she was named First Team All-PAC in singles and doubles. She led the Barons with 15 singles wins, including a perfect 6-0 mark in PAC play. She looks to be a steady presence at the top of the lineup for Head Coach
Tom Costello in her final year with the Barons.
What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming season?
Ehlers: I am looking forward to making memories with my teammates! This season is going to be bittersweet, but I plan to really make the most of it.
What is your most memorable moment at Franciscan throughout your career?
Ehlers: I have two memorable moments here at Franciscan. The first is studying abroad in Austria where I traveled to Israel with a pilgrimage group right when the war between Israel and Palestine started. The second most memorable moment I had at Franciscan was the entire intent process with Regina Angelorum. Getting to know my big and the women in this household has been one of the greatest blessings.
What are your plans after graduating from Franciscan?
Ehlers: I am going to get a nursing job with OSU. I will look into Psychiatric Nursing or look into the ED, and continue that job for a while. Then I will study to get my master's degree in nursing.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
Ehlers: The people who have had the biggest impact on my life are my parents. They have been my supporters since day one. They have supported me throughout my entire tennis and college career, and I couldn't thank them enough.
What is the best piece of advice that you can give to the incoming freshmen at Franciscan?
Ehlers: The best piece of advice that I would give to the incoming freshman at Franciscan is to Trust in Him and His plan. One of the hardest lessons I have had to learn is to let go and that change is okay. Things happen for a reason, you just have to trust in His plan for you. And while you may not know what that plan is, keep trying your best and everything will fall into place.
