How It Happened
For the first time in 2025, Franciscan Women's Volleyball played at Finnegan Fieldhouse. The Barons hosted the Redhawks from La Roche in a non-conference match on Wednesday night, and the Barons were able to deliver with a sweep in front of a packed house.
La Roche won the first point, but then the Barons controlled the first set most of the way from there. That was largely due to their veteran,
Mary Jean Cadman. She delivered eight kills throughout the set while swinging .727. The Barons took all the momentum on
Logan Hickey's serve, as they took a 4-0 run with two aces from Hickey. The Barons pulled away to win the first set by a score of 25-17.
Set two was much more back-and-forth, as it was a very tight match up to a 17-17 tie.
Logan Hickey led the offense in this set, as she added nine kills this set.
Caroline Linklater added a couple as well in the later part of the set to help the Barons pull away and take a 2-0 edge.
Set three belonged to the Barons. Franciscan jumped out to a 9-1 edge, as
Kaitlan Hickey sparked the Barons with some amazing serves. She had two in the early going and six in total in the third set alone.
Molly Quinn and Adelin Jakary added aces in this set as well, as the Barons ran away with it to secure the sweep.

Up Next
Franciscan Women's Volleyball will have a week off before starting conference play at Saint Vincent on Wednesday. The Barons are 4-11 all-time against the Bearcats, but they have won two of the last three meetings. Last season, they played each other twice, with the Bearcats winning the conference matchup. The Bearcats are off to a slow start in 2025, but they will also be well rested, as they last played on Tuesday, September 9th.
