The Latest
- Franciscan dropped their last contest 0-1 on Wednesday against Kenyon College, a team that was ranked nationally in the preseason poll at one point
- A goal in the 58th minute sunk the Barons
- The Barons were only able to attempt two shots on goal the entire game
-They will head to Marietta College on Saturday to take on another strong non-conference opponent in their loaded non-conference schedule

Scouting the Pioneers
- Marietta comes into the match 3-2-1, having already played some familiar Baron opponents
- The Pioneers suffered a 3-0 loss to Chatham University and tied 1-1 with Washington and Jefferson University
- Despite their winning record, they have been outscored 12-16 by their opponents
- Senior striker Parker Bolin has led the way with seven goals on the season, including a four-goal performance against Bluffton
- The Barons and Pioneers have split the all-time matchup 3-3, with the Barons winning each contest in the last three seasons
- Last season, the Barons won 2-0 at Trinity Health System Field

Attacking the Net
- Unlike the last three games, the Barons did not out-shoot Kenyon
- Andrew Goduti attempted six shots and Lucas Cross attempted four, but they only attempted one shot on goal each
- Kenyon attempted eight shots on goal to Franciscan's two
- The Owls sent in defensive substitutes for long stretches of time and were able to keep the Barons away from the goal with smothering defense

The Trend
- The Barons have been held scoreless in four of the five games this season, including the last three
- They were held scoreless just twice last season. Once in a loss to Ohio Northern in the NCAA Tournament by a score of 1-0 and once in a tie to Chatham 0-0.
- The last time that the Barons have been shutout four or more times in a season was 2019, when they were shutout four times, with two of those games being scoreless ties.
- The Barons will need a momentum shift against Marietta to shift the scoreless tide that has been plaguing them recently

What to Watch For
- Marietta has given up three or more goals four times this season
- The four teams the Barons have lost to have given up a combined six goals on the season, while Marietta alone has given up 16
- This could be an opportunity for the Barons to capitalize and bring out the offensive firepower

The History of Millers and PKs
- Over the last eight seasons, the Barons have made 29 penalty kicks, 25 of which were made by Ryan Miller '25 or Nick Miller '22.
- JP Bobak and Jonathan Schriner are the other two Barons to have found the back of the net from the dot, with the latter doing so in 2023.
- Lucas Cross took his first collegiate PK in the opening minutes against Kenyon but had it saved.

Record Tracker
- Lucas Cross sits at 4th on the all-time points record with 84 points, trailing Nick Miller '22 with 90.
