How It Happened
For the 22nd time since 2007, Franciscan and Bethany took the court, and for the first time, Franciscan was able to secure the sweep and earn a conference win.
Logan Hickey led the way with 19 points, and
Sarah Clyde added 14 in the victory.
The first set was a close one, as the score was tied nine different times. Bethany held a 14-13 lead, but then the Barons rallied with six consecutive points. That gave them some breathing room, as they were able to secure the set with back-to-back kills by
Logan Hickey.
Set two belonged to the Barons, as they had the lead from start to finish. The Barons stretched the lead up to 12 points at 19-7 after a 7-0 run on
Kaitlan Hickey's serve. Two of those points came on aces. The Barons kept up the strong play, as they won 25-14 in a dominant set.
The Bison made adjustments and looked like a new team in the third, as they jumped out to a 13-8 edge. Once again on
Kaitlan Hickey's serve, the Barons made a big run. Six consecutive points from Franciscan gave them the lead and the momentum in this set. The offense stayed hot, as several different Barons provided kills down the stretch, including a pair from
Mikayla Doan. The Barons won 25-20 to secure the sweep.
