How It Happened
In front of a packed house on Homecoming Saturday, the Barons went toe-to-toe with the reigning PAC champs.
Logan Hickey led the Barons with 25 kills, the most ever by a Baron in a four-set match.
The middles made a major impact in the opening set, as Tessa Miler and
Sarah Clyde combined for four kills and four blocks in the opening set. This set went back and forth, as the score was tied on eight different occasions, but the Gators prevailed 25-22.
Logan Hickey heated up in the second set with six kills, but the Gators were able to control the set. The score was tied once in the early going, but after a couple of runs the Gators had total control. Franciscan made a late run, but the Gators won 25-20.
The Barons really got he offense going in the third set, as they held a .394 attack percentage in the set. A large part of that was nine kills from
Logan Hickey. Many of those kills were timely to fend off the Gators and hold onto the lead, as the Barons won 25-19.
The Gators adjusted and took the early lead in the third. They added three of their seven aces in this set. They were not able to contain
Logan Hickey, as she added seven more kills in this set. The reigning champs pulled away late, as Franciscan dropped their first home match of the season.
