Women's Volleyball Drops a Close Tri-Match at Kenyon

Franciscan 2, Kenyon 3

How It Happened
Franciscan made the trip to Kenyon early Saturday morning, and they took on the hosts in game one of the tri-match. A five-set thriller ensued with the Owls barely squeaking out the win.

Franciscan had a balanced offensive attack with several players contributing to a great first set. Logan Hickey, Sarah Clyde, Tessa Miller, Angela Sweeney, and Mary Jean Cadman had kills for the Barons, as they won the first set by a score of 25-22.

In the second set, the Owls were the first to 15, and they were able to hold onto that lead to win 25-21. The third set looked to be the Owls, as they led 14-11, but then a Franciscan 4-0 run gave the Barons a lead. The Owls regained the lead and held a 22-19 advantage. A 5-0 Franciscan run on Kaitlan Hickey's serve swung the momentum to Franciscan, as they took the third set.

Franciscan jumped out to a 9-4 edge in set four, as they looked to close the Owls out in this set. A 5-0 run by Kenyon tied it up at 9-9, as the hosts gained the momentum and took control of the set. A couple of runs by the hosts led to a 25-17 win and sent this match to a fifth set.

Logan Hickey had three early kills in the fifth to give the Barons an 8-5 edge in the fifth. The Barons got to match point at 14-12, but the Owls rallied three straight points to fend them off and win 17-15.
