NEW ORLEANS – The Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Franciscan Men's Cross Country had a pair of runners honored for the second season in a row. Maxwell Bruns (Fr. Gilbert, Ariz. / Arete Preparatory) and Seamus Sommers (Jr. Muskego, Wis. / Trinity Academy) were named All-Academic for their outstanding work on the course and in the classroom. Bruns placed 48th, and Sommers placed 54th at the Great Lakes Regional match last fall.

The All-Academic Teams for the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country season were also announced by the USTFCCCA.

Franciscan earned this honor once again by holding a 3.53 GPA under the direction of Head Coach Dr. Daniel Kuebler.

That was one of the highest GPAs in the nation among the Division III institutions.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
