How It Happened
The first set started with a slim 6-5 Barons lead, then six straight points by the visitors put the squad up 12-5. Thiel then scored six of the next seven to cut the lead to two.
Anna Guard then recorded a pair of kills, but the hosts would let Franciscan run away with it. The Barons built a lead to six, which was then cut to four by Thiel before Guard got another kill to win set one 25-20.
In set two, Franciscan lost its first set in six matches, as Thiel would win it 25-20.
Tessa Miller and Guard led the Barons with numerous kills, but a 6-2 Thiel run ended the set after the Barons cut it to 19-18 from a kill by
Sarah Clyde. In the next set, an early Baron lead at 6-3 quickly was erased when Thiel tied it at eight. Franciscan responded with a 7-2 run, and quickly built its lead up to eight at 23-15. Thiel scored two of the next three, but two
Logan Hickey kills gave the Barons a 2-1 set lead.
For set four, Thiel built a 9-5 lead, with the Barons slowly chipping away. Down 12-11, the visitors scored six of the seven points. The dominance would continue for the Barons, building its lead to six at 23-17. Thiel would again score tw of the next three, before yet another
