Franciscan women's volleyball kept its hot streak going, earning its seventh straight win Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep over Saint Vincent. With the win, the Barons move to 13-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
How It Happened
The first set had the team split the opening 20 points, before the Barons scored the next six. The Bearcats followed with four of the next five points, but the visitors could not get to within one. Kills by
Logan Hickey,
Meg Smart, and
Anna Guard paced the hosts to a 25-21 opening set win.
In set two, the visitors jumped out to a 8-3 lead, before the Barons scored 12 of the 15 points. In that run, Guard and Hickey recorded multiple kills. The points would go back and forth the rest of the set, with the Barons up late 22-19. The hosts will then not allow another Bearcat point, as the squad scored the last three points of the set.
For set three, the visitors stepped out in front early again, with another Baron run flipping the tide. A 4-2 Saint Vincent lead turned into a 9-5 Franciscan lead quickly, thanks to kill by
Therese Heisler and
Sarah Clyde. Saint Vincent got it within two at 13-11, but three straight Baron points increased the lead to five. Heading into the final stretch, the Barons were one point away at 24-22, but two points to the visitors kept the match going. After multiple tries, the Barons won 28-26, in part to a kill by Guard.
