How It HappenedÂ
For the final game counting toward the PAC standings, the Barons traveled to Waynesburg, Pa to face the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets. Heading into the match, the standings were a jumble from 3rd-8th making this match a must win. If the Barons win they clinch the playoffs. If they lost, they would rely on some luck to avoid falling out of the postseason.Â
Thankfully, the Barons took care of business on the road and avoiding the stress of relying on other teams outcomes. Goduti was a force to be reckoned with scoring three points off one goal and an assist. Haggerty has become a dual threat on the forward line. Haggerty tallied four SOG with one finding the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season and the Saturday' game-winner.
With the big road win, the Barons have now clinched the PAC four seed and will be hosting a quarterfinal match at home on Saturday. Stay tuned for game time announcements later this week.
the Barons will be hosting St. Francis this Wednesday at 5pm. This will be the first time the Barons will face their sister school St. Francis in the first year of the Red Wolves transition to Division III. To commemorate the first match, the team chaplain Fr. Jonathan St. Andre T.O.R. will be speaking to both teams and fans pre-game. Additionally, the Barons are partnering with Urban Mission to help raise Thanksgiving Day food for families in need by having a food drive at the game. All fans who bring canned or boxed goods will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win an official Franciscan Men's Soccer jersey.
