How It Happened
The bats got the Barons on the board early. Hunton and Bodie each had RBI hits in the first inning to score a pair in the top of the first. The Barons added on in the second, when Linehan scored on a throwing error to set the score at 3-0. Bodie continued the breakout game with a solo home run in the third, the first long ball of the season for the Barons. The next batter,
Matteo Lindia, hit the first triple of the season for the Barons, and he was later driven in on a sacrifice fly by Schiwall.Â
Jacob Cole continued to pitch well with the 5-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets were able to break up the shutout with a pair of runs in the fifth. Both runs were unearned with an error, balk, and wild pitch to allow the runs to come across. Cole delivered a couple more zeros to the scoreboard, but he was chased out in the eighth inning with a pair of runners on base and just one out.
Dax Clifton came into jam and allowed both inherited runners to come across, but maintained at 5-4 to head into the ninth inning.
Holden Armstrong came in to close out this one. He struggled with command early, and an error in the field helped tie the score at 5-5. With two outs, the Yellow Jackets drove in the winning run to give the home team game one.Â

How It Happened
Game two had a lot of scoring as well, but this time the Yellow Jackets struck first. They plated three runs in the first to hold a temporary lead. The Barons scored seven in the top of the second to regain the lead in a massive inning. The Barons used six hits and took advantage of one error. Five of their runs were scored before an out was recorded. Peffer had the biggest swing with a two-RBI double. Franciscan led by three, but Waynesburg kept up their offensive attack and took advantage of some Franciscan fielding errors. The Yellow Jackets scored one in the second and two in the third to cut the deficit to 8-6 after four innings.Â
Two-out magic provided some much-needed insurance in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Cook doubled in Peffer, and then Bodie doubled in Cook. Extra-base hits kept on coming in the seventh. Peffer hit his second double of the day to drive in a run, and then Hunton delivered a double on a 3-2 pitch to score another and give the Barons a 13-7 lead. The Barons were able to shut down the Yellow Jackets the rest of the way to secure their first win of the season.Â
