How It Happened
For the first three innings of game 1, it was clean baseball. Three up, Three down was how each inning went. I counted two halves where there were only four pitches total in the inning. After a 30 minute delay to the start, the defense from both teams made up for it.
That was until the bottom of the fourth. The Barons got the ball rolling and the Tomcats did everything they could to stop it. They eventually did, but not before the Barons tallied up 10 runs.
The game fell back into a semi-even stalemate, but after an Armstrong two RBI single, the Barons held a 10 run lead triggering the PAC run-rule ending the game.
For the more superstitious type, the lack of walk-up music equated to a solid performance all the way down the batting order... according to Armstrong. Maybe silent focus is the Barons key moving forward?
At the Plate
- Armstrong was 3 for 5 with 2 runs and 3 RBI's
- Matteo was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's

How It Happened
Game 2 was not as stress free for the Barons as game 1. Zografos had a great start holding the Tomcats scoreless through two, and the Barons took the immediate one run lead, but the top of the 3rd spelled trouble. The Tomcats grabbed four runs and took a 4-1 lead. The Barons answered with one run in the bottom of the inning but still trailed by two. Zografos had a crispy clean 4th inning with two ground outs and a flyout to right to end the inning. The Barons had their turn to score a drove of runs in the bottom of the 4th. With Cook's leadoff single they tacked five runs onto the board and re-took the lead.
However, in the top of the 5th Zografos was against the wall with bases loaded and two outs. Having already ground through 4.2 innings, the Barons subbed in
Peter Schwindt who made quick work of the Tomcats hitter to retire the inning with three left on base.
The Tomcats made a comeback and threatened the Barons lead multiple times, but closers Clifton Dax and
Josiah Bodie staved them off and sealed the 10-8 win and doubleheader sweep.
At the Plate
