How It Happened
The Barons had their final regular season game at home against the W&J Presidents. From the jump the Barons came out firing. Tallying an 11-1 halftime lead. At the half, coach emphasized the need to perfect the fundamentals and show that they're well-polished and ready for post season play.
Out of the half, the Barons did not look like that team. They appeared to have their foot off the gas for a few minutes. The Presidents were tallying goals, closing the lead, and if it continued much longer, Baron faithful might have become worried the coveted playoff appearance would slip from their grasp. Thankfully, the offense woke up, the midfield controlled the game again, and the Barons stopped bleeding goals and equaled their first half output.
Late in the 4th, lightning was sighted on the horizon. The strike was within parameters to clear the field and seek shelter. With the Barons 15 goal lead and only eight minutes remaining, the decision was made to call the game as completed and the Barons sealed their postseason fate with the final score of 22-7.
Just prior to our game ending, the Westminster Titans defeated the Allegheny Gators pushing the Barons up into 5th place. They will now face the Titans on the road for the PAC Quarterfinals.
