How It HappenedÂ
The opening period saw Capital carry the early momentum, out-shooting the Barons 12-7. Franciscan goalkeeper
Aiden Miller made several crucial interventions, registering three of his four saves in the first half to keep the opposition at bay. However, Capital managed to break the deadlock just before the intermission when Joah Benjamin found the back of the net in the 43rd minute.
Rather than letting the late first-half deficit dictate the match, the Barons responded with immediate tactical adjustments and high-pressing energy out of the locker room. Just 1:21 into the second half, Franciscan's offensive pressure paid off.
Anthony Venditti delivered a precise ball to
Christian Ludwig, who slotted home his first goal of the season to equalize at 1-1.
The Barons continued to dictate the tempo of the second half, heavily out-shooting Capital 11-4 over the final 45 minutes. Despite Franciscan's sustained pressure, Capital reclaimed the lead against the run of play in the 64th minute on a goal by Colten Musick. Franciscan pushed numbers forward for the remainder of the match, forcing Capital goalkeeper Noah Thomas into five second-half saves, but the elusive equalizer ultimately slipped away before the final whistle.
