Franciscan women's volleyball celebrated Homecoming with a 3-0 sweep over Wilmington College Saturday afternoon at Finnegan Fieldhouse. With the win, the Barons move to 8-5 overall.
How It Happened
The first set had the Quakers jump out first to a 5-2 lead, before the Barons scored five straight.
Logan Hickey recorded three kills in that span. There would be seven more lead changes in the set, including a 5-0 Quaker run to put them up 21-17 after previous trailing by one. Franciscan would then close out the set on a run, not letting the Quakers score again to win the set 25-21, with
Anna Guard and
Logan Hickey each recording an additional kill.
In set two, the first 18 points were split 9-9, and like set one, featured numerous lead changes. Trailing 13-12, the Barons scored five straight, thanks to kills by Guard,
Logan Hickey and
Caroline Linklater. Wilimington got it to within one two times after this, but Franciscan scored six of the last seven points to take the middle set.
Wilimington started set three with a slim lead at 9-7, which eventually grew to 16-12 before the hosts called a timeout. The Barons then completely stole the momentum, scoring the next (and final) 13 points of the set and match. During that run, Guard recorded two kills and two blocks to fuel the fire for the Barons, who were once again successful in securing a sweep victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Franciscan has won all eight of its matches via sweep. The team has never won that many sweeps in a season since 2015.
- The Barons nearly had the double the amount of kills the Quakers had (37-19).
- Both
Reese Anderson and
Meg Smart recorded 12+ assists (18 and 12, respectively).

Logan Hickey had a .484 attack percentage, her third highest in a game this season.
