ALTOONA, Pa. – The Franciscan women's swimming and diving team picked up its first dual meet win of the year as the Lady Barons defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference rivals, Penn St.-Altoona 118-49, Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Barons opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:03.47. Freshman Colleen Farabaugh followed the relay win with a first-place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle as she touched the wall at 11:51.65, just over a minute before the second-place swimmer.

Freshman Evelyn Nick took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.97) and junior Marguerite Stonier took second (3:16.89) to give the Lady Barons strong start to the meet.

Junior Maris Bey picked up the Lady Barons' fourth-straight first-place finish as she won the 50-yard freestyle with a  time of 28:69. Freshman Abigail Robinson took third with a time of 30.83 and sophomore Shannon Wieszczek took fourth with a time of 31.94.
Five events in, and the Lady Barons earned their fifth first-place finish as freshman Alicia Winters won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:32.17. Junior Kathryn Cunningham was close behind for a second-place finish at 2:35.31.

Freshman Emily Reuwer took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.75 and Bey took fourth in the event with a time of 1:25.06.

Franciscan swept the top three places it the 100-yard freestyle as Robinson won with a time 1:11.96 and Wieszczek took second at 1:14.39. Freshman Rebecca Poston took third with a time of 1:39.64.

Senior Bernadette DiMaria secured a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke as she touched the wall at 1:30.18 and Stonier took third with a time of 1:45.25.

Farabaugh earned her third victory of the meet as she won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:45.08. Cunningham then won the 100-yard breaststroke as she finished with a time of 1:17.05, just .38 ahead of Winters who took second at 1:17.43. Kelsey Kuziewski took fifth in the event with a time of 1:45.17.

Bey, Robinson, Nick, and Wieszczek closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay to help secure the meet win for the Lady Barons.

Franciscan gets back in the pool on Friday as the Lady Barons head to Hiram for a non-conference dual at 6:00 pm.
