How It Happened
Morning Prelims
Kate Kinst headlined the qualifying stage, as she placed 12th in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:47.56. In the 200 IM,
Mary Therese Frank and
Avery Schmitz placed 18th and 19th, to narrowly miss the evening finals. The 50 freestyle was very close, as expected, including a swim-off for the final spot
Haley Fifield placed 20th with a time of 27.63 seconds.
Rachel Pergi was just behind her in 23rd,
Rachel Comstock placed 33rd, and
Janine Agapay placed 35th.
Evening Finals
Kate Kinst improved her time from the morning by three seconds and retained her 12th spot to earn five points. In the final event of the night, the 400 medley relay, the Barons placed 11th. The team comprised of
Haley Fifield,
Mary Therese Frank,
Gabrielle Lewis, and
Kate Kinst. They completed the relay in a time of 4:41.33
Up Next
Day #3 of the PAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be a busy one for the Barons. In the morning preliminaries, Franciscan will have swimmers in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke. Those swimmers look to make it to the evening finals that will have those events, as well as the 200 freestyle relay.
