Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Franciscan women's soccer team fell to non-conference opponent, Washington & Jefferson, 1-0, on a late-second half goal, Tuesday evening.
The game-winning goal came for the Presidents just 23 seconds before time expired in regulation as Caitlin Drahushak collected a rebound off a shot that hit the post and was able to put the ball above senior keeper Sarah Luebking's (Littleton, CO/Littleton) hands.
Franciscan had its best scoring chance early in the second half as junior Katie Kilian's shot just three minutes into play was stopped by the W&J goalie. Kilian set up the initial possession with a corner and the Lady Barons were able to keep possession for Kilian to get her shot off.
The Lady Barons only other shot came about midway through the second as junior Kelsey Scott-Avery's shot was blocked by a President defender.
The Presidents out-shot the Lady Barons 21-2 and held a slight 2-1 advantage in corners.
Luebking made seven saves in net for the Lady Barons.
Franciscan opens Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action on Saturday as the Lady Barons host Medaille at 2:00 pm.
