Madelyn Conrad earns AMCC Player of the Year

North Boston, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced their 2019 Women's Tennis all-conference awards, and for the second time in her historic career, Senior Madelyn Conrad has been named Conference Player of the Year.

Madelyn Conrad had a dominant season in AMCC conference play this year. In #1 AMCC singles she was 5-0 while outscoring opponents 60-11. She followed that up by being nearly perfect in #1 AMCC doubles with teammate Ana Victoria Haddad. They posted a 5-0 record while having a 40-4 edge over the opposition. Conrad overall on the fall season is 6-2 in #1 singles and 5-2 in #1 doubles. Madelyn was forced to retire in a non-conference singles  match against Baldwin Wallace due to an ankle injury. She pushed through the next few weeks of the season, including a 7-5 7-5 victory against possible PAC player of the year Morgan Happe from Grove City. Conrad missed three conference matches, but she was able to return against Mount Aloysius to defeat #1 Chloe Love which helped the Lady Barons clinch the #1 seed in the AMCC Championship.

She was able to help put an explanation point on the season by winning the 2019 AMCC Conference Championship as a team on Sunday for the 4th year in a row! On Saturday in the semi-final against D'Youville, Conrad and Grace Hammel won 8-1 in #1 doubles. Then on Sunday in the Championship against Medaille, Conrad and Hammel won a contested #1 doubles match 8-6 and helped to another 5-0 sweep to win the Championship. She was also selected First Team All-AMCC in #1 singles and Second Team All-AMCC #1 doubles, giving her seven All-AMCC awards over her career at Franciscan.

Madelyn has had an impressive four years of play while at Franciscan, and it's not over with this coming spring season including the NCAA championships. Conrad has compiled an AMCC record of 24-4 in singles play and a perfect 29-0 in doubles play over her four seasons. As a freshman in 2016 she was selected First Team All-AMCC #2 doubles. 2017 was no sophomore slump, as she had a breakout season going an undefeated 8-0 in both singles and doubles. She was named Conference Player of the Year for the 2017 season as well as First Team All-AMCC #1 singles and #1 doubles. Her junior year, 2018, Conrad lost only one match going 7-1 in singles and 8-0 in doubles. This was good enough for First Team All-AMCC in #1 doubles and Second Team All-AMCC in #1 singles.
