BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Franciscan volleyball team dropped a four-set match to non-conference opponent, Geneva, Wednesday evening.

The Short Story: The Lady Barons rallied from behind for a 27-25 win the third set but ultimately fell to the Golden Tornadoes, 3-1, after a 25-15 fourth set loss.
How it Happened
• Franciscan kept the first set close, taking a 7-6 lead early before a 10-3 run for the Golden Tornadoes gave Geneva a 16-10 lead. Geneva closed out the set with a 7-0 run to win 25-16.
• The Lady Barons took a quick 4-1 lead in the second set but Geneva worked its way back in and took a 5-4 lea, one which they would not surrender. After the Lady Barons pulled back to within one at 14-13, the Golden Tornadoes worked a 21-13 lead to take control of the set and eventually won 25-15.
• Franciscan trailed 12-10 midway through the third set but came back to tie it at 12-12 and take the lead at 13-12. After a back and forth affair in which neither team took a significant lead, Franciscan prevailed 27-25 thanks to a Geneva attacking error and a kill from Marykate Bodien.
• The Golden Tornadoes took the lead from the start of set four and never looked back as a pair of 5-0 runs propelled Geneva to a 25-15 set win and a 3-1 match win.

Meghan Bayer led the Lady Barons with 13 kills and 17 digs for her sixth kill/dig double-double of the year.

Junior Sydney Riley handed out a team-best 12 assists while Emily Nutter posted eight.
