Barons and Medaille Tie in the AMCC Game of the Week

The Basics
• Score: Franciscan 0 – Medaille 0 (2OT)
• Records: FUS (6-1-2, 1-0 -1 AMCC) • MED (3-4-2, 1-0-1 AMCC)
• Location: Buffalo, NY • Medaille Sports Complex
• The Short Story: The Barons and Medaille battled through 110 minutes in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week without either team finding the back of the net. Both teams had goals denied by the post or crossbar while  excellent defense and goalie play was displayed by both squads..

How it Happened
• Just 23:34 into action, junior Brian Gaughan made an incredible save, diving back toward the ball to keep the Mavericks off of the board.
• In the 31st minute, senior Ian Baldau set a shot that rang off the post and back into play, missing the goal line by mere inches.
• Junior Sebastian Koehler put a ball on net with 22 seconds left before the break but was turned away by goalie Johnny Pitts.
• Gaughan made a save with 4:16 left in regulation to keep the game tied before sophomore Matt Kuefler put a shot just wide with 29 seconds left as the game headed into overtime tied 0-0.
• After the first overtime ended without either team getting a shot off, the Baron defense went to work in the early parts of the second overtime, blocking a pair of shots in front of the net.
• Andrew James sent a shot wide in the 104th minute and the final Baron corner kick landed without a shot getting off as time expired and the two teams had to settled for the 0-0 tie.

Inside the Box Score
