Men's Basketball Look to Reboud Against Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY- Franciscan had a let down loss on Saturday,after knocking of #1 La Roche at home on Wednesday. They didn't have much time to recover as they will get right back into it Monday at Hilbert. The Hawks ae currently on a three game skid, 2-4 since they beat the Barons in Steubenville. They lost to La Roche by three in Pittsburgh most recently on Saturday.

All-Time Series Against Hilbert
  • Franciscan is 3-20 all-time against Hilbert
  • They battled in close one last month at Franciscan, as Hilbert would win 70-68. The Hawks pulled away late, but the Barons scored six points in the final minute to pull within two. Four Barons scored in double figures as Sean Hickey scored a game high 15, Schriner 14, Noce 10 Trent 10. The Hawks had four scorers score in double digits as well as Karamanos scored 14, Braniecki 12, Martineau 10 and Evans 10. 
  • Last season the men won big in Hamburg, 68-44 over the Hawks. Sean Hickey scored 17 points, and Matt Trent pulled down 17 rebounds in the victory. The held the Hawks to a 23.2% field goal percentage on the day.
Scouting Franciscan
  • Travis Lien has continued his hot start, as he has scored in double figure points every game this season. In five games he is averaging 18.2 ppg while shooting 52.2% from three.
  • The front court combination of Drazen Frankovitch and Matt Trent have been shaping into mid season form as of late as the duo are combining to average 29.5 ppg over their last two games. Against D'Youville Trent became the Franciscan Division III all-time leader in made field goals at 361.
  • Opponents are shooting 47.0% against the Baron's defense, to give the Barons the worst field goal percentage defense in the AMCC right now.
Scouting Hilbert
  • Hilbert has been led this season by their point guard Hunter Martineau. He is 1st in the conference with 7.2 apg and 5th in the AMCC with a 55.5 field goal percentage.
  • Masia Phillips had his worst game of the year against the Barons earlier this season with four points, but is averaging 17.5 ppg since that game.
  • Freshman Lazar Jovanovich is coming off a strong game against La Roche on Saturday with 29 points as he went 7-11 from three and pulled down eight rebounds.
