Men's Lacrosse Travels to Marietta Tomorrow

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Barons look to rebound at Marietta on Wednesday night, as they play in their first night game of the season. Marietta looks to keep up their strong offense, as they scored 22 goals against Earlham on Saturday in their first win of the year.

All-Time Series Against Marietta
  • Franciscan is 0-1 all-time against Marietta, with the lone matchup coming last season.
  • The Pioneers came to Steubenville and beat the Barons 18-6. Dan McCartney scored three goals including the first two of the game to give the Barons an early lead. The Pioneers would respond with 10 unanswered goals to take a firm control of this one. Connor Ficke would score five goals to lead the Pioneers, and Chad Stowell scored four goals as well in the win. Justin Blasko scored three goals for the Pioneers. Jonathan Lee and Michael Araps added goals late in the fourth quarter, as the Barons never quit. 
  • Marietta is a second year program. They had a strong 7-10 record in their inaugural season. 
Scouting Franciscan
  • Franciscan took a tough loss in their first game on the road at Hiram, 17-8.
  • Freshman Dominic Rohan started to show his talents, as he scored three goals. Thomas Thomas also had a nice debut with three points as well, including two goals.
  • Micah Eby played the last three quarters in goal for the Barons. He allowed 11 goals and had six saves, but the score was closer 11-6 in his time in goal for the Barons.
 Scouting Marietta
  • Marietta may have a little momentum, since they are coming in off of their first win on Saturday against Earlham by a score of 22-5.
  • Connor Ficke is their early season points leader with 9 points, while Colton Abate is the goals leader with 5 in the early goings.
  • Three goalies have already seen playing time for the Pioneers, so it will be interesting to see how they are used tomorrow. Matthew Mapstone played took the loss by playing the first half against Transylvania, but played well in the next game. Gavin Honeycutt received the start against Earlham, but only played the first half while earning the win.
