How It Happened
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Franciscan University fell to Washington College by a score of 12-4 on Saturday March 14 in the team's final game during their spring break trip.
Franciscan would get on the scoreboard first, striking in the third inning.
Collin Scott worked a walk and
Declan Peterson smacked a double into right center to put runners on the corners.
Nate Gramman would reach on an error, plating Scott and giving Franciscan the lead.
Kyle Ferrance would follow with a single into center field allowing both Peterson and Gramman to score.
Washington College would plate at least one run in each of the next three innings, taking a 4-3 lead heading into the sixth inning. Franciscan would respond in the top of the sixth inning with
Joshua Costello leading off with a double into left center. After Scott move Costello to third base,
Brendan Burke hit a hard ground ball allowing Costello to score and tie the game at four.
The Shoremen would take control of the game, plating six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and cruising to a 12-4 victory.
