PITTSBURGH- Franciscan University dropped their nonconference match up with La Roche University on Wednesday March 4 by a score of 16-9.

Franciscan (0-3) got off to a fast start scoring seven minutes into the game when
Dominic Rohan found
Thomas Thomas for the first goal of the game. Two minutes later, Thomas would find
Michael Araps for a goal, putting the Barons ahead 2-0. La Roche's Brent Burkhouse took advantage of a Barons penalty, scoring with a man advantage with just over five minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Burkhouse would tally two more goals over the final five minutes to give La Roche (2-1) a 3-2 lead heading to the second quarter.

The Red Hawk's Mitchell Bachman took control of the game in the second quarter where he scored five of his game high eight goals. Franciscan tried to keep pace with Thomas and
Michael Francis each finding the back of the net, but they found themselves trailing 8-4 heading to the locker room.

Francis would start the scoring in the second half, striking 30 seconds into the third quarter when Rohan found him for a goal. Jonathon Lee scored his first goal of the season, pulling the Barons back within two goals. After La Roche scored with a man advantage,
Seth Arangua found
Joe Miraglia for his first goal of the game. Araps would tally his second goal of the game with over a minute remaining in the third quarter, but Franciscan trailed 11-8 heading to the final quarter.

La Roche would capitalize on some Franciscan penalties, scoring twice with a man advantage. Trailing by seven, Thomas stormed to the net and scored his third goal of the game. The Barons would pull no closer, falling 16-9.
