How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Men's Soccer team improved to 4-0 in PAC play, as they defeated Saint Vincent 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Barons did not waste time getting into the scoring column, as just over a minute into this one they scored their first goal. Jonathon Schriner ripped a one timer that snuck past the Saint Vincent goalie. Franciscan was able to dominate the offensive attack for most of the first half, as they out shot Saint Vincent 12-6 in the first half. The Bearcats were able to get a couple good looks on some quick counters, but Jax Mautone stood strong in goal with strong play in the middle of the defense by Liam Nagle and Joshua Atkinson.
In the second half, less than ten minutes in, Sebastian Koehler would find the back of the net on a great cross from Schriner. Less than five minutes later a Bearcats penalty would give Franciscan a penalty kick. Nick Miller would come up from his midfield position to take his second penalty kick of the yer. Just like his first attempt he found the back of the net with a strong kick that snuck just over the goalkeeper. That set the lead at 3-0. Less than a minute later, Saint Vincent finally capitalized on a strong counter attack. Northrup sent a beautiful through ball that found Rahaman, who was able to bury it. The Franciscan offense was not done, as Nick Miller would take a free kick from just outside the left corner of the goal box. Miller sent a bouncing ball that missed everyone and found the back right corner of the goal. That score would hold, as Franciscan won 4-1.
