How It HappenedÂ
The Barons fall 18-4 in the season opener to St. Vincent. The Bearcats would jump out to an early lead, as they led 15-1 at the half. The Barons would not quit, making halftime adjustments playing the second half even with the Bearcats.
The Bearcats came out and scored in a hurry, as they added four goals in the first five minutes. Jacob Visalli added the first goal of the game, and he would add another in the first quarter, as the Bearcats would be leading 8-0 through one quarter. An early penalty would put the Barons down a man for the first four minutes of the second quarter. The Bearcats woud take advantage by scoring three goals with the man advantage. Halfway through the first, Joe Miraglia would get the Barons on the board with his first goal of the night. The Bearcats took their 15-1 lead into the half.Â
The Barons continued play hard, as they would win the third quarter by a score of 2-1. Joe Miraglia added his second goal of the game with 8:17 to play. Seth Arangua would score his first of the year in the closing minute while the Barons had a man-up advantage. The Bearcats would score a quick goal to start the 4th quarter to take a 17-3 lead. Max Schuler added Saint Vincent's last goal of the day with 2:41 to play. Franciscan played till the final whistle, as freshman Gavin Cook scored his first Franciscan goal with 0:38 to play.Â

-Joe Miraglia led Franciscan scorers with two goals on the day.
-Seth Arangua and Gavin Cook each notched one goal in the season opener.
-Jacob Visalli scored four goals to lead all scorers, all of which came in the first half.
-Micah Eby had 18 saves in goal for the Barons, his career high.
-Saint Vincent won 15 face offs to Franciscan's nine.
-The Bearcats out shot the Barons 65-24.
-Â Jonathan Bookwalter caused a team high two turnovers.
Who's Next?Â
Franciscan resumes their three game home stand as they face Bethany Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. under the lights. This will be a season opening game for the Bison. The Barons are 2-5 all-time against the Bison in men's lacrosse with the Bison winning the last two matchups. The last Franciscan win came at home in 2017 by a score of 18-7. Jonas McCaig led the Barons with eight points including four goals and four assists. Current Franciscan leader Michael Araps scored two goals on two shots that day in his freshman season.
