How It Happened
Hiram came out with energy and put Franciscan on their heels early. The Terriers possessed the ball well, and Martinez speed was difficult to handle. Muldrow sent a leading pass to a streaking Martinez, who was able to get his shot passed the goalkeeper, and Hiram took an early 1-0 lead. The Barons showed mental fortitude, and spent no time sulking. Once the Barons found a way to contain Martinez, they went on the attack, and kept the ball in the offensive zone. Mikey Irvin dribbled across the top of the penalty box finding Sebastian Koehler coming down the right side. Koehler tapped it back into the middle of the box to the freshmen Jonathan Schriner, who pounded into the back of the net. Jonathan Schriner had a excellent performance against Christendom Saturday, and built on that performance today. In the 44th minute, Nick Cross received a deep diagonal ball on the right side. Cross dribbled passed a couple defenders and found Jonathan Schriner, who for the second time today, was ready to send it to the back of the net. The Barons were up at halftime 2-1.
In the second half Hiram found their legs again and began pressuring the Barons. Jax Mautone had to do his part to keep the Barons in the lead. Mautone registered 10 saves on the night. In the 51st minute, Ryan Miller finds the veteran Sebastian Koehler who bounces the ball off the goalie to get the Barons up 3-1. Hiram made some big efforts to get back in the game, but the Barons defensive efforts lead by Liam Nagle weren't going to let anything get passed that back line. Barons would win the rainy night contest 3-1.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will get back into competition on Saturday, as they travel to Carnegie Mellon. This will be the first matchup between the two teams since 2008. In that game the Barons fell to the Tartans by a score of 4-1. The lone goal came from Christian Bobak who was assisted by Steven Durand. Carnegie Mellon is 4-1-1 so far this season with wins against a couple of PAC schools already in Westminster and Washington & Jefferson.
