How It Happened
The Barons lost by 1 to the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes on the road in Beaver Falls, Pa. Franciscan came out of the gates a step slower than normal. Their traditionally stout defense gave up significant early pressure in the first 10 minutes. Geneva's first corner kick came just one minute into play. They followed that up with 4 more shots and another corner before Franciscan put any pressure on them. Midway through the second half Franciscan earned back-to-back corner kicks and sent a handful of shots. Both goalkeeper's avoided giving the first goal until the 37th minute. Geneva was the first to strike and went into halftime up 1-0. Franciscan turned it on midway through the first half, but the slow start put them behind in shots and corner kick attempts.
Kolbe Rice saw extensive minutes this game. He was subbed in early in the first half then started the second half. He made the most of his time and rewarded coach by tying the game up in 63rd minute. The Barons had to defend a total of 8 corner kicks this game one of the highest totals they've faced all season. In a deja vu moment, the 8th corner kick of the game in the final minutes Geneva scored the winning goal a mere replica of the order of events from the women's game the night before.

Inside the Numbers
-The Barons had 6 corner kicks compared to Geneva's 8
-Kolbe Rice's goal was his first of the season and as a Baron
-Franciscan still holds a 3pt lead in Conference standings above Geneva in the #2 spot
-Jax Mautone recorded 5 saves

Who's Next?
Franciscan will travel to Allegheny for their first matchup in program history against the Gators. It will be Senior Day for them, as they will be trying to remain in playoff contention with many teams all pilled up in fourth through eighth in the conference. The game is scheduled to be played at 2:00 pm at the Robertson Athletic Complex, which means a rare grass field for the Barons to play on Saturday.
