Barons Prepare to Make a Run for Their First PAC Championship

Steubenville, Ohio

    This is familiar territory for the Franciscan Barons. Playoffs. The Barons found themselves in a familiar playoff scenario last season. They had the semi-final game well in hand after a halftime buzzer beater shot by Senior defender, Isaac Doyle, just before halftime and beat the Westminster Titans. The Barons went on to play the PAC championship match at home against their rival the Bethany Bison. The Bison were on a Cinderella story run and the Barons were defeated in the championship game 3-1.
    This most recent playoff run is fueling the Barons to re-write history this postseason and win the PAC title as it once alluded them. Leadership will be important and team leaders will be expected to keep playing at a high level. The Barons are led by graduate midfielder, Nick Miller, who leads the team in goals scored this season. He will look to give the team the edge with his big play potential and veteran leadership. The team will also look call upon Sophomore forward, Jonathan Schriner, who leads the team in assists this season, to help create opportunities to score downfield and apply the pressure on the other side of the field.
    Anticipation is building and the hype is astronomical. The Barons have made the PAC championship tournament for the second straight year in a row and are hoping to secure their first PAC title.
 
Baron fans will be treated free hot dogs. Cheer loud and come out support your Barons this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Health System Field.
