Race Highlights
The Franciscan Men's Cross Country team competed in Holland, Michigan on Saturday in cold and wet conditions for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. There were 42 teams present for a total field of 271 runners trying to qualify for the NCAA National Championship next weekend. Franciscan drew the 15th starting box to give them a start near the middle of the start line.
A very tight, contested field formed in the early going, as the Barons did not get their greatest of starts. At the halfway point,
Danny Donovan was the fastest Baron in 60th place. He would end up finishing 73rd, and
Conal Delaney would be the top finishing Baron in 60th at the end of the 8K race. Delaney and Donovan each posted new personal best times.
Miguel Daez was next to finish for the Barons, as he placed 112th.
David Di Nardo was not too far behind him, as he posted a new personal best time as well.
George Kaftan rounded out the top five with a 128th place finish.Â
That gave the Barons 476 points to place 14th. John Carroll would take home the Regional title with 83 team points, as they just edged out Case Western with 88 points. Allegheny was the only other PAC school in the Region, and they placed 19th. This ends the Men's Cross Country season for the PAC Championship winning Barons.Â
