How It Happened
The game was a close fought and well played game aside from 1st innings defensive woes. A couple of walks and stolen bases preceding a big hit, quickly put the Barons in a 3-0 deficit in the 1st inning. Coach McKnight decided to make a quick lineup change and put
Kimberly McDaniels in the circle. In the 6 innings pitched, Kimberly allowed 3 runs, and only walked one batter while getting 2 strikeouts.
Alexis McKnight saw some success at bat. McKnight had 2 hits off 3 at bats.
The best offensive effort for the Barons came in the bottom of the 6th.
Elizabeth Gibson and Lily Wahl each hit a single then advanced bases off a wild pitch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd,
Jenny Massey hit a single to the outfield.
Elizabeth Gibson scored and Lily Wahl stood on third.
Rachel Cooper grounded out, but allowed Massey to advance to second.
Kimberly McDaniels, who crushed one to outfield her last at bat, had an opportunity to bring 1-2 runners to home. McDaniels so a variety of different pitches, and eventually swung on a decent pitch, but grounded out closing the inning.
