How It Happened
Franciscan's bats remained hot from yesterday, as they put up 10 runs in a nine inning battle against Western Connecticut State on Friday. The Barons got on the board early, as Daniel Halsey would score when Andrew Normandin reached base on an error in the first inning. Wade Stoehr followed that up with a single to drive in Brendan Burke, to give Franciscan two runs in the opening frame all while battling with two outs. Aidan Hickey got the offense going in the third, as he drove in Stoehr on an RBI single. Maynard would walk with the bases juiced to score another, and then Brendan Burke would drive in a pair on a sharp single.

The 7-0 lead was plenty for Jacob Watson, as he would pitch eight strong innings. He only got into trouble in the fourth, but contained the damage to a pair of solo home runs. Michael Maynard would add an insurance run in the fifth, as he ripped his first home run of the season. The Barons would add a couple runs between the sixth and seventh innings to give them a 10-4 lead through seven innings. Coach Rick Carver would go to Andrew Normandin to close this one out in the ninth. He would get into a little bit of a jam, in which the Colonials scored a pair of runs, but he got three outs and secured Franciscan's fourth win in a row.

At the Plate
- Maynard, Burke, and Stoehr each had two RBIs.
- Aidan Hickey hit his first triple of his Franciscan career.
- Michael Maynard hit his first home run of his Franciscan career.
- The Colonials hit three hom runs on the day.
- The Barons drew seven walks.

On the Mound
- Starter Jacob Watson pitched eight innings  while striking out four batters and allowing three earned runs.
- He is now 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA through three starts this season.
- Normandin pitched the 9th inning, his second appearance of the year. He has pitched 3.0 relief innings.

Up Next
Franciscan will conclude their trip to Florida with a doubleheader against Washington College (Md.) tomorrow starting at 10 am. These two teams played each other in 2020, the last game of that season to be exact in Florida. The Shoreman got the better of the Barons two years ago by a score of 12-4. Kyle Ferrance drove in two runs, but starter Jacob Watson git roughed up early to earn the loss. This should be a tough non-conference test to end a productive week in Florida.
