How It Happened 
The Franciscan Men's Lacrosse earned their first win of the 2022 season at home against La Roche on Wednesday night. Gavin Cook led the way with 9 goals, the second most by a Baron in a game in program history. 

Franciscan's offensive attack started early, as Alexander Dhabliwala scored within the first minute. Gavin Cook scored his first goal of the night shortly afterwards, as he scored four goals in the opening quarter. Tanner Lien, Andrew Carpenter, and Jack Nelson all added first quarter goals as well to give Franciscan a 9-0 lead after the first fifteen minutes. A couple different players registered goals in the second period, as Dominic Miraglia and Samuel Marshall each scored twice. Daniel Clayton, Jack Nelson, and Gavin Cook each added one of their own to send us to halftime with a 16-0 lead. 

The Barons tallied four more goals in the third quarter. Gavin Cook and Dominic Miraglia each scored one goal, and Alexander Dhabliwala scored a pair and assisted on another. In the fourth Dhabliwala opened up the quarter with a quick goal on an assist by Joseph Redmond. Then La Roche would get on the board with their first goal of the night by Devin Wolford, as they were a man-up.Tanner Lien would add his second goal of the night, and then Gavin Cook would score the three last Baron goals to give him nine goals and eleven points on the night. 

Inside the Numbers 
- Eight different Barons scored at least one goal.
- Nine goals by Cook is only bested by Dan McCartney and Joe Lomady who each scored 11 once in their careers.
- Dhabliwala recorded nine points, 12th most in a game by a Baron in school history.
- Richard Vale II had seven saves while only allowing the one goal in 60:00 minutes of play to earn his first win.
- Jack Nelson had 12 ground balls and forced five turnovers, both team highs.
- Jeofre Strandhagen won a team high 12 faceoffs in 18 attempts. 

Who's Next? 
Franciscan will hit the road this weekend for their first away contest of the year, as they travel to Wilmington on Saturday. The Barons are in search of their first win all-time against the Quakers, as they have lost their previous four matchups. Wilmington is 2-1 thus far this season. This will be their second matchup against a PAC school, as they fell 16-7 against Bethany last weekend.

Franciscan University Athletics is partnering with Steubenville Conferences to offer summer sports camps in conjunction with the Steubenville Main Campus 1 (June 9-12th, 2022) and 3 (June 23-26th, 2022). Youth Conferences. Participants will be able to strengthen both their athletic skills and their relationship with Christ in this uniquely Franciscan hybrid experience.
