How It Happened
Franciscan baseball hosted #1 seeded Westminster for a home doubleheader at Vaccaro Field on Saturday afternoon. A large first inning by the Titans proved to be enough for them to hold on and take the first seven inning conference game.Â
The Titans got six runs in the top of the first inning, a handful of errors did not help, as the Barons were very uncharacteristic of their normal selves in the first. The Titans added on in the third anf fifth innings before the Barons would plate a pair in the bottom of the fifth.
Dylan Robb,
Kyle Ferrance, and
Patrick Wallace would get on base with singles. Wallace's single would make him the all-time hits leader in Franciscan baseball history.
Aidan Hickey singled in Robb, and
Michael Maynard singles in Ferrance. Then an inning ending double play would cancel the threat. The Barons would not score again, as the Titans would take the first game, by a score of 11-2

How It Happened
The first inning continued to be the Barons nemesis, as the Titans plated five runs in the first inning to take the lead. A couple of Baron miscues and a Titan two run home run were the biggest moments of the top of the first. The Barons would tighten the gap in the third inning, as
Michael Maynard would reach base on a single. Then with two outs,
Wade Stoehr would put a charge in a ball, sending it over the left field fence to make it a 5-2 game. The Titans would add insurance runs in the fourth and fifth to pull their lead back up to 8-2. Franciscan would threaten in the bottom of the sixth, as they loaded the bases with no outs.
Ryan Anselmino would drive a ball to deep right field to score Stoehr on a sacrifice fly. Then Ferroni would reach on a fielder's choice that would score Scavnicky. The Titans would get out of the threat, by only allowing two runs. Banfi would come in for Westminster and shut down the Barons to earn a three innings save and give Westminster game number two.Â
