Big Day for Scavnicky Helps Barons Beat Titans

How It Happened
The Barons made the Sunday road trip to Westminster to try to salvage one game out of the three game season series. They would go to Patrick Wallace on the mound to try to neutralize a very potent Titans offense that scored 25 runs on Franciscan on Saturday. This would be a big offensive day for both teams, but the Barons would prevail.

Franciscan would score first in the first, as Brendan Burke drove in Anthony Franzonello on an RBI single. Franzonello reach on a single of his own, na dhe would get into scoring position thanks to a passed ball. The Titans would answer in the bottom of the first with three runs of there own. It could have been much worse, as Wallace walked the first three batters of the game. The Barons would retake the lead with one swing of the bat in the second inning. Ryan Scavnicky delivered a bases clearing, opposite field triple to give Franciscan a 4-3 edge. Wallace would help himself by hitting a sacrifice fly to score Scavnicky. 

The Titans would score four runs over the next two innings to retake the lead at 7-5. Scavnicky delivered again in the sixth, as he drove in Ryan Anselimino to pull the Barons to within one. In the home half of the sixth, the Titans plated three runs to take their largest lead of the game at 9-6. The Barons would retake the lead in the seventh. Brendan Burke ripped a two RBI double that plated Halsey and Franzonello. Then Aidan Hickey drove in a pair on a double of his own. to give the Barons a 10-9 edge. Anselmino hit a sacrifice fly that would score Hickey to end the seventh with a 11-9 edge. The Barons would add a couple of insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, but would not need them, as Daniel Halsey pitched a scoreless final three innings to secure the Franciscan win. 

At the Plate
- Scavnicky went 4-5 with six RBIs and a run scored.
- Brendan Burke returned to the lineup with four RBIs of his own.
- Anselmino and Halsey added three hits a piece.
- The Barons had six extra-base hits including three triples.

On the Mound  
- Starter Patrick Wallace lasted three innings with three strikeouts.
- Jacob Whitmore came in and earned the win, as he pitched three strong innings.
- Daniel Halsey earned his first save of the season with three scoreless innings of work.

Up Next
Franciscan is scheduled to play a doubleheader against Waynesburg at home on Tuesday with the first game slated to start at 3 pm. With some April showers likely this week, stay tuned for any changes that may happen throughout the week.
