How It Happened
The Barons traveled to a neutral site, West Liberty, to face the Bethany Bison in a doubleheader. The Barons lost a close one in game 1. Rachel Cooper batted at the top of the lineup, and gave the Barons the lead off single in her first at bat. The second and third innings were all defense for both teams. Only 1 hit was registered on either side during that stretch.
The Barons scored the first run of the game in the top of the 6th. Jenny Massey started the inning with a single to left field. Elizabeth Gibson doubled to left center scoring Massey. After holding the Bison for 5 innings, the defense bent slightly in the 6th allowing 3 runs.
Going into the final inning the Barons were down 1-3. Brooklynn Miller started the comeback by singling down the left field line. Miller then advanced to second base after a passed ball. Felicia MacGillivray hit her first career double to left field and registering her first career RBI scoring Miller. The Barons had two more outs to give and had the tying run in scoring position. Unfortunately, MacGillivray was left on base and the game ended in the top of the 7th with Franciscan losing 2-3.

How It Happened
Franciscan wasn't able to punch in and score any of their runners and lost game 2 to the Bison. The Barons batted first and Jenny Massey had the lead off single to right field. Kimberly McDaniels followed up with a single, but both were left on base. Bethany got off to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st. The Barons had 3 errors which led to 2 Bison runs.
The Bison scored one more run in the bottom of the 3rd after the Barons gave up back-to-back doubles. The Barons had some consistent hitting from freshmen McDaniels, but were unable to ever bat in a runner. In the bottom of the 4th, the Bison scored 5 more runs, and the game ended in the 5th inning 8-0.

At the Plate
-Jenny Massey was 1 for 2

Up Next
Franciscan returns to action early Saturday morning, as they travel to Chatham for a 10:00 am start. They are scheduled to play a doubleheader in Pittsburgh against the Cougars. Last season the Cougars came out on top in both games, but hopefully better results will come for the Lady Barons this season. Both teams are in the bottom half of the PAC, but they are both still alive for postseason play, as six teams will make the playoffs this season.
