How It Happened
Franciscan baseball hosted Chatham for PAC doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Vaccaro Field. Franciscan's ace Jacob Watson would take the mound for Franciscan in the seven inning game number one. The Cougars would get to him for run in the first inning, as an error extended the inning and allowed a run to score. Franciscan would respond in the bottom of the second, As with the bases loaded, Aidan Hickey would reach base on an error that allowed Brendan Burke to score. The Barons would take their first lead in the third inning. Ryan Scavnicky would lead off with a double, and then Michael Maynard would move him over on a groundout. Brendan Burke would then deliver a sacrifice fly to give Franciscan a 2-1 lead.

The Cougars would tie it ip the fourth with a run on a double by Vogel. The Barons would take the lead once again in the bottom of the fourth with some more small ball. Aidan Hickey drew a walk, and the Ryan Anselmino moved him over on a sacrifice bunt. James Becker would then rip a single to center that would roll slow enough in the wet grass to allow Hickey to score from second. The lead was very short lived, as the Cougars would score a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. That lead would hold until the bottom of the seventh.

Andrew Normandin would lead off with a walk, and then Daniel Halsey would get hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs. Two pop ups would leave the runners on first and second with James Becker up to bat. The senior would deliver a shot to center that scored Normandin, who slide head first into home with a strong throw by Vogel.

Ryan Neely would come into the game to pitch for Franciscan in extra innings, and he would pitched three scoreless innings. James Becker would lead off the bottom of the 10th inning after he gunned out a runner at home in the top of the 10th. He would carry that momentum into a leadoff double. Then Patrick Wallace tried to sacrifice bunt him over to third, but he beat the throw to put runners at the corners with no outs. Ryan Scavnicky would then deliver a walk-off single up the middle that scored Becker for a Franciscan win.
