How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Volleyball extended their winning streak to five in a row, as they downed the La Roche Redhawks in three sets on three sets on Thursday evening.
Franciscan jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set, as Elizabeth Luebbers had a pair of kills. Rani Hebert would add to the attack with a pair of kills to set the score at 10-3. Franciscan looked tp be in total control with the score at 22-14, but then La Roche went on a 5-0 run to make this first set very interesting. A pair of La Rocher service errors and a big kill from Renee Antonelli would prove to be enough for Franciscan, as they won the set 25-22.
La Roche would grab their first lead of the night, as they held a 4-3 edge in the beginning of set two. Franciscan would retake the lead thanks to a 6-0 run that included two aces from Gabrielle Disselkamp. The Redhawks would manage to get back into this set, as they tied it up at 13-13. The Barons led by Disselkamp, who added four kills down the stretch, would go on to win the second set by the same score as the first set, 25-22.
It was all Franciscan to start the third set, as with the score at 3-1, the Barons would go on an 8-0 run. Disselkamp had three more aces on this run, as the Redhawks were not able to figure out the freshman's serve all night. Renee Antonelli was steady all night by getting a kill when Franciscan needed one even if she was in the back row. Rani Hebert added a pair of kills down the stretch to close the third set out by a score of 25-15.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will get back in action next Tuesday at STEUBENVILLE CATHOLIC CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL - 320 WESTWOOD AVE STEUBENVILLE OH, 43952 when Washington & Jefferson comes to town. This will be the second non-conference matchup between these two team this season with the Presidents winning the first matchup in Marietta. Washington & Jefferson won the first two sets in that meeting, but then Franciscan would win the next two to force a fifth set, but the Presidents would win that by a score of 15-12. The Barons will have to do a better job containing the Presidents' attack, as they had 63 kills with 25 coming from freshman Faith Fetsko.
