How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Soccer finished their HLM tournament trip with a 2-1 win against Fredonia. In the 16th minute, Nick Miller took a corner kick. He crossed it to defenseman Liam Nagle posted in front of the net. Liam headed it to Mikey Irvin who got it passed the goalkeeper scoring his first goal of the season. The Barons added another goal just before halftime. The second goal was similar to the first. Once again, Nick Miller took a corner kick. He crossed it and found freshmen Lucas Cross. Cross put it in the back of the net. The Barons held their 2-0 through halftime. The Barons started the 2nd half with another scoring opportunity. Nick Miller took his normal corner kick duty, but this time the Barons didn't get a shot off. Possession of the ball switched to Fredonia who transitioned to the offensive end. Jax Mautone stopped the first shot, but a second shot a few seconds later got passed him and shrunk the lead by 1. The Barons held on to their 2-1 lead for 43 more minutes. During that time they only allowed 3 shots. With the 2-1 win the Barons improve to 1-0-1 for the season.
