How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Men's Soccer finishes their road trip unscathed. A 1-0 win over Muskingum brings them to 2-0-1 for the start of the season. The story of this game is two parts. Stout defense led by veteran defender Liam Nagle and goalkeeper Jax Mautone. The defensive unit allowed only 2 SOG all game. Mautone stopped all of them. His 0.33 goals per game is an excellent start to a season full of high expectations. The constant barrage of shots on the offensive end is part two to the story. It made the 1-0 victory more lopsided then the score tells. The Barons registered 18 total shots with 10 SOG. The lone goal came mid-1st half from Augustine Rubino off Zachary Muldoon. With so many veteran players, seeing a pair of freshmen grab their first collegiate points on a game winning goal brings excitement for not just this season but years to come.
Inside the Numbers Â
-Jax Mautone's performance currently ranks him 3rd in save percentage and goals allowed per game
-Tonight's goal brings the total to 4 Baron freshmen that have registered a point this season.
Who's Next?Â

In their last matchup in 2019, Franciscan won 6-0, as Mikey Irvin netted two goals and Nick Cross added one of his own.
