The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced their Men's Soccer weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and Franciscan had one player honored. Junior defender
Joshua Atkinson (Haymarket, Va. / Seton) was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Atkinson is the veteran anchor of the Franciscan defensive line and played all 180 minutes last week in the pair of shutouts against Chatham and Saint Vincent ... Helped hold a Chatham team averaging better than 1.6 goals per game off the scoreboard with only three shots on goal before the Barons posted a second shutout for the week and fifth for the season in the Saint Vincent victory.
This is the first time that Atkinson has earned a PAC Weekly honor. This is the fourth honor for Franciscan Men's Soccer this season, as
Jax Mautone, Emmanuele Ghinelli, and
Lucas Cross earned honors earlier this season.
The Barons return to action on Wednesday when they host Saint Vincent at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Health System Field. There are just two regular season games left this season for the Barons to clinch/improve upon their PAC Tournament seeding.
