How It Happened
To finish their season opening Virginia trip, the Barons faced the Hampden-Sydney Tigers located 70 miles southwest of Richmond, Va. The Barons played 21 guys this game. The main core started and saw extended minutes, but many young players had their opportunity to show how they can help this team win another championship. The talented Tigers were came out swinging early getting the first goal 13 minutes into the first half.
Toward the end fo the first half and early in the second half, coach Ridenour began substituting the younger more inexperienced players to give them high quality experience in a closely contested match.
The starters managed to put up 6 shots with 3 shots on goal in the first half, but the second half crew recorded 0 shots. The Tigers took a total of 26 shots. Of the 11 in the second half, 2 more managed to find the back of the net, and the Barons lost 3-0.

Who's Next?
Franciscan will return home to start a busy week after Labor Day. The Barons will start their four-game week with a battle against Muskingum on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. This will be their first game at Trinity Health System Field since winning the PAC Championship over Bethany on November 5, 2022. Franciscan is looking to level-up their career record against Franciscan, as they hold a 3-4 record in their previous seven matchups. Last season, the Barons beat the Fighting Muskies 1-0 with Augustine Rubino scoring a first-half goal. Jax Mautone needed just two saves to record the shutout.
Men's Soccer ID Camp
Franciscan Men's Soccer is excited to offer an ID Camp for aspiring college athletes on Sunday, November 19th, 2023. Participants will have the opportunity to receive training from the men's soccer coaching staff, as well as interact with current players. Players will participate in a typical Franciscan training session and gain an understanding of the competitive and challenging environment of collegiate athletics. For more information click here
