How It HappenedÂ
The Barons returned home from their two game trip through Virginia to start the season. Coach Brent Ridenour renowned for his astute defenses and defensive minded approach to the game found himself in another world tonight as the Barons piled on 9 goals in their Home Opener versus the OAC Muskies. Freshmen Emanuele Ghinelli made his collegiate debut in front of 400 fans lining the hill. Ghinelli started and saw 49 minutes of play. In that half game he made his time count. He led scoring off with a goal in the 6' off a feed from veteran teammate Kolbe Rice. The Muskies tied it up 13 minutes later, but Ghinelli clapped right back less than two minutes later to score his second goal and put the Barons back in front. Ghinelli took a break and let the rest of the guys get some scoring in before completing his hat trick with the first Baron goal of the second half in the 62'. You have to go back to the All-American, now Assistant Coach Leo Herrmann's days to find anything close to this kind of explosive start to a career.
Although exciting, Ghinelli was not the only freshmen to make a splash on the goal sheet. Anthony Venditti has seen the field for all three games this season and nabbed his second career goal tonight. Noah Burdett scored his first collegiate goal. The returners rounded out the scoring with Jonathan Schriner and Joseph St. George grabbing 1 goal each and Lucas Cross scoring two.Â
Inside the Numbers Â
-The Barons out shot the Muskies 25 (15) to 9 (4)
-The Barons played a tight clean game with only 4 fouls compared to 11 Muskie fouls
-Starting goalkeeper Jax Mautone and backup Aiden Miller each recorded 1 save
-Ghinelli is the first freshmen in Baron history to record a hat trick in his debut
Who's Next?Â

The Purple Raiders are 2-0 this season with a pair of shutouts over PAC schools. They shutout Geneva and PAC favorite, Grove City.Â
